Mike Slone has been working on web projects since 1995 and helped build one of the largest adventure sports content and communities, Explore.com, in 1997. As one of the first video bloggers in 2005, he has an eye for emerging media and has been building web communities ever since. A degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado coupled with a focus on creative direction, user experience, and original content has positioned Mike Slone as an industry thought leader. Recently, Mike was interviewed by Forrester for an upcoming book about how innovative leaders — and their teams — use technology to solve customer problems.
Mike leads the digital marketing efforts for Vail Resorts, including- user experience, SEO, social influence marketing, mobile, and emerging media. He is obsessed with Foursquare and Gowalla, and aspires to ski 30 days or more in the 2010/2011 season. He’s spoken at SXSW, Eye for Travel, WOMMA, and other industry events, and his work has been recognized by Webby Awards, ID Magazine, How Design, and Communication Arts. Previously experience includes work at Razorfish, leading user experience projects for Southwest Airlines, Microsoft, and Dell. Other past clients include Patagonia, Marmot, Motorola, Vans.
